How to Spell Revenge (2018) – Film Synopsis

Danny, a beleaguered bank teller, is growing increasingly frustrated by the lack of love Sheila, his girlfriend, is throwing his way. She has other ideas, mostly of moving up in the world, and maybe leaving him behind. After an innocent night on the town turns hot and heavy, Danny’s in a pickle, and Sheila’s wrath is evoked. This leads her into the world of Witchcraft, a Pandora’s Box who’s limitations are unknown.

Ryan H. Ishii (Director, Producer, Photographer, Editor)
Raised in Hawaii, Ryan H Ishii received his MFA from the USC School of Cinematic Arts in 2008. Since then, he has been working in the commercial, feature, & wedding industries, both in Los Angeles and Honolulu, while continually pursuing narrative fiction. He lists directing/producing this project as a milestone, (first time working with SAG), and fun, working with old collaborators. He is excited for his production company, Street Cinema, LLC’s future adventures in escapism.

Dezmond Gilla (Writer, Executive Producer, Actor – Danny)
A native of Oahu, Dezmond Gilla has always had a passion for movies. He grew up an only child in a neighborhood with a mostly geriatric population. He escaped into movies, like the Goonies, memorizing dialogue, playing out different scenarios in his head, and creating new characters. Eventually, his passion lead him to acting after a introductory class in college caused him to change his major from Art to Theater. Since then, Dezmond studied classical forms within the University of Hawaii and contemporary forms outside of college, along with improv classes. He spent many years working on independent films, television, and commercials. He was inspired to take it beyond just acting and decided to write a screenplay for himself, after a stagnant relationship with an ex-girlfriend ended. Being that he had showed some promise as a short story writer in school, and having read many scripts as an actor, he developed his idea. After many drafts and some critical feedback from his peers, Dezmond finally got his material to a point where his filmmaker friend, Ryan Ishii, said, “Let’s do a table read!” These five words snowballed into what you see on screen today!

Jason Umino (Producer, Soundtrack Composer, Sound Mixer)
Jason Umino is a Honolulu-based electronic music artist and educator performing under the moniker, Wunderfish. He has been with Street Cinema since its inception in 2005, and left his career in digital marketing in 2014 to focus on music full time. While he is inspired by a wide variety of music, his heroes hail from the golden age of electronic music in the 80s and 90s: Vince Clarke, Orbital, Underworld, Air, and Leftfield. Cinematically, he is particularly influenced by the soundtracks of Zbigniew Preisner, Eric Serra, and Danny Elfman. Wunderfish released his debut album, “The Narwhal in the Cornflower Sky” in 2017, as well as an official remix for famed Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi on Decca / Universal Records. He is currently working on a follow-up album and other remix projects while teaching kids the art and science of electronic music at Honolulu’s Computational Thinkers.
